Phillip Butler, 36, of Conception Bay South, will be charged with second-degree murder when he appears in court in St. John’s today following at an incident at his home at 13 Comerford’s Rd. in Upper Gullies last night.
A Telegram photographer was on the scene Monday night when multiple police units, including the K-9 team, responded to the house just before 9 p.m., along with at least two ambulances. RNC forensic identification officers were there, along with members of Rovers Search and Rescue. The home was surrounded with police tape.
Butler has a criminal record that includes convictions for uttering threats against people and property, assault, theft, break and entry, and resisting arrest.
He is also expected to be charged with breach of probation today, as he was on probation as a result of a conviction he received in October 2017 for two charges of uttering threats.
