It took about a minute or so to scroll through the list of charges against Oral Clarke on the provincial court docket posted online for Wednesday.

For the most part, the charges read the same, unlawfully luring a child by means of a computer system. The only difference is some of the charges allege his victims were under 18 and others that they were under 16 and there is one charge of accessing child pornography.

Judge says ramifications for Oral Clarke do not outweigh impact of sexually luring victim on Internet

This is the third time the St. Jude’s man has had his name connected with the internet luring of children.

He’s currently serving a sentence on two previous convictions at the correctional centre in Bishop’s Falls.

In June 2017, he was sentenced to 20 months in jail for possession of child pornography and unlawfully luring a child (under 18) by means of a computer system.

On March 27, he was sentenced to an additional 18 months for Internet luring involving another girl who was between 14 and 16 years old when Clarke communicated with her between December 2014 and May 2016.

In the earlier cases Clarke was said to have posed as a young boy using the alias Ammon Charlebois while communicating with his victims.

Clarke appeared via video-conference from Bishop’s Falls in the Corner Brook court on the latest charges Wednesday morning.

The more than 50 charges were laid last week by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of Newfoundland and Labrador (CFSEU-NL) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE).

Police allege Clarke lured four young females — two from Canada and two from the United States — via a computer.

Not much happened during the appearance. His lawyer, Jim Goudie, had not yet reviewed the disclosure on the charges, but indicated it was now available at the Crown’s office, and the matter was set over to May 15.
