Brent Humphries doesn’t have any concerns that an oil spill in the Corner Brook Stream and Glynmill Inn Pond on Monday will have any lasting impact on the water system.
Humphries, executive director of the Corner Brook Stream Development Corporation, said the spill was small and with all the rain that hit the city after he doubts much of it remained after the cleanup.
About three litres of lubricating oil were spilled into the water from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper’s Watson’s Brook generating station.
Humphries said once discovered the spill was acted upon quickly and it looks like to him that the company dealt with it in a professional manner.
“I think it was good to see that people reported it quickly, and the regulatory agencies stepped in and the mill was co-operative.”
