Details on probable causes are pending from a Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigation into a weekend rollover accident on an area of open road between the north shore Bay of Island towns of McIvers and Cox’s Cove.
No serious injuries were reported, but a thin line of trees left on the shore of Larkin’s Pond was all that kept the vehicle from going into the open water.
The car remained where it lay Monday, pending arrival of a specially equipped wrecker and traffic safety personnel to perform the difficult extraction from where it ended up after jumping the guard railing on Route 440, Admiral Palliser’s Trail.
There was no police report made available by press time.
