CARBONEAR, NL — Harbour Grace RCMP charged a male youth for allegedly assaulting a fellow student at Carbonear Collegiate.
The youth, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing a single-count charge of assault in connection to an alleged incident Friday, April 13, involving two students, one of whom was taken to hospital. The student was treated and released that afternoon, according to police.
A social media post from a woman claiming to be the mother of the male victim said he sustained a partial concussion. She wrote that her son was punched twice in the face and fell backwards, hitting his head on a wall, and received further punches afterwards. She also claimed there were students who recorded the incident. None of these allegations have been proven in court.
The accused’s first appearance at Harbour Grace Provincial Court is scheduled to take place next month.
