Facing a slew of charges after being taken back into custody, Joshua Melvin Cormier of Flat Bay agreed to be remanded in custody when he appeared in Stephenville Provincial Court on Monday.
As six weeks is set aside for a pre-sentence report on fisheries charges he is facing, his next appearance in court has been set over to Nov. 6. The rest of his charges are set for status at that time while he remains in custody.

Cormier is the man who evaded police for more than a year but was taken back into custody last Thursday after he was spotted in Stephenville, fled police but was caught hiding in a wooded are along the Hansen Highway by Police Service Dog Axel.
His fisheries related charges include: unlawfully jigging or netting salmon; unlawfully possessing a net in inland waters; and possession of untagged salmon.
Cormier’s other charges include: three counts of mischief relating to property under $5,000; three counts of failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking or recognizance; three counts of failure to attend court; two counts of failure to comply with a probation order; one count of driving while disqualified and one count of assault.
