ST. JOHN’S — The recreational groundfish and the northern cod fisheries will remain unchanged in Newfoundland and Labrador this year.

Fisheries Minister Keith Ashfield announced details for the two fisheries Thursday.

The groundfish fishery will be run in various Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization areas from July 23 to Aug. 14.

It will also open for one week in the fall, starting Sept. 24

There will be a daily bag limit of five fish per person, and a boat limit of 15 fish if three or more people are fishing.

Season dates for the northern cod stewardship fishery will be announced in the coming weeks, but the individual quota level of 1,470 kg for the year will remain in effect.
