A 55-year-old Stephenville man is expected in court this afternoon charged with intimidation of a justice system participant and two breaches of undertakings.

Cpl. John Butler said the man was arrested on Saturday afternoon after police a received a call about 5 p.m. that a man was uttering threats at a residence in Stephenville.

His two breaches of undertaking were in relation to not have any communications with the person who made the complaint and not to be consuming alcohol. The person he is alleged to have threatened is the same person who is a witness in another case that is before the courts related to a sexual assault incident.

He is alleged to have tried to intimidate that witness.

The man was remanded in custody when he appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on Sunday and will appear before a judge this afternoon.
