Only about a year into his driving eligibility, a Corner Brook man arrested again Tuesday already owed $2,800 in fines.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary reported stopping an 18-year-old on the Lewin Parkway near Broadway at about 10 p.m. The driver was discovered to have had his driver’s licence suspended and owing the outstanding fines.

He was charged with driving while suspended, failing to transfer ownership of the vehicle, operating an unregistered vehicle, and operating a vehicle without insurance. He was released from police custody to appear in court Aug. 5. His vehicle was impounded, according to police, and he relinquished claim of the vehicle to have it destroyed.
