A man who allegedly returned to the same business twice within one week and stole merchandise has been arrested.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the business at Murphy Square in Corner Brook first reported a male stealing merchandise June 9. The man fled the store when approached by staff.

On Monday of this week, exactly one week later, the same man was allegedly observed stealing merchandise form the same business. The police were called, but the man had left the area by the time police arrived.

The suspect was located on Humber Road Tuesday and was arrested. He has been charged with two counts each of theft under $5,000 and two counts of breaching probation.

He has been released from custody and will make an appearance in provincial court Aug. 5.
