Random-Burin-St. George’s MP Judy Foote has announced she is battling breast cancer for the second time.

Foote made the news public in her most recent newsletter to her constituents, which arrived in Port aux Basques mailboxes today.

“It is because I am your representative and have a responsibility to you that I wanted you to know I was diagnosed with breast
cancer a couple of months ago and had surgery,” wrote Foote.

Foote’s first chemotherapy treatment was May 5. She has been continuing to work from home and she credits her staff for helping to keep things running smoothly.

“The support from the Liberal Leader and my colleagues in Ottawa has been incredible and I am so grateful. I am equally grateful for the enormous outpouring of support from those who became aware, over the past two months, of my circumstances. It was, and continues to be, reminiscent of the overwhelming show of support I received 14 years ago.”

Foote’s first diagnosis of breast cancer was while she served as a provincial MHA in the district of Grand Bank.
