One of two women injured in a collision between a transport truck and SUV earlier this week was released from Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Wednesday.

As of Thursday afternoon, Cpl. Eric Humber of the Deer Lake Royal Canadian Mounted Police had not received word if the second woman had been released.

Humber did not have ages on the women, however, he did say that the woman killed in the crash was 73 years old and from this province.

Humber said the woman’s family has requested that her name or hometown not be released.

The deceased woman and the two injured women were all riding in the SUV at the time of the collision. The deceased woman was a passenger.

The accident occurred at just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The transport truck was westbound and the SUV eastbound at the time they collided. The SUV left the road after the collision and ended up on its side.

The man driving the transport truck was not injured.

He was the lone occupant of the truck.

A RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and Humber said his report has not yet been completed.
