The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a break-in at a Corner Brook nightclub that took place overnight Sunday.

The police confirmed the licensed establishment is on Herald Avenue, but would not identify which bar exactly.

Initially, the police had responded to a report of found property in the Broadway area at around 9:35 a.m. Monday morning. Further investigation determined the property belonged to a business in the area which had allegedly been the target of a break and entry sometime the previous night.

In the RNC’s overnight report issued Tuesday morning, it was indicated that an undisclosed amount of money and other property was reported stolen.

Later Tuesday, Const. Scott Mosher, the RNC’s media relations officer, told The Western Star that a quantity of cash reported stolen from the bar had been recovered in the nearby Regent Square area.

According to Mosher, all of the recovered cash was coin. It was unknown as of press time if anything else was missing from the business.

“The RNC is continuing the investigation and working with the owner to determine what was taken,” said Mosher.
