UPDATED: Missing woman from Meadows found safe

The woman reported missing from a seniors home in Meadows since Tuesday evening has been located.

According to the RCMP, Doreen Anderson, 78, was located via a Newfoundland and Labrador Fire and Emergency Services helicopter Wednesday morning.

She is reported to be in fair condition, but is being taken to Western Memorial Regional Hospital in nearby Corner Brook for examination.

 The RCMP wishes to thank the agencies involved in this search and members of the general public who assisted in this matter.

The RCMP are actively searching for a senior citizen who has not been seen since Tuesday evening in Meadows.

According to the Corner Brook detachment of the RCMP, 78-year-old Doreen Anderson was last seen at her residence at Mountainview Seniors Home in Meadows at around 6 p.m.

 She could be disoriented due to her medical challenges, including Alzheimers.

 A preliminary search last night of the communities of Meadows, Summerside, Irishtown, McIvers and Cox's Cove and did not locate her.

 The RCMP Police Service Dog, the Meadows Fire Department, the RCMP and the Bay of Islands Search and Rescue are continuing to search this morning. They will be assisted by the Newfoundland and Labrador Fire and Emergency Services helicopter.

 Anderson is believed to be wearing a dark short sleeve shirt, grey pants and sandals. She is described as 5' 8" with short grey hair

 If she is not located a further update will be given at around noon today.
