Thieves steal ATM full of cash in South Brook

The RCMP is on the hunt for three men believed to have stolen an automated teller machine containing cash from a highway rest stop in South Brook early Wednesday morning.

According to a press release issued by the police late Wednesday afternoon, the break, enter and theft happened at Eddy’s restaurant and gas bar, which is located on the Trans-Canada Highway near the exit to Route 380.

The police said three males had pried open the front door of the business and removed the ATM, along with the undisclosed amount of cash inside it. The ATM, said the RCMP press release, was transported from the scene in a pickup truck, which proceeded eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway.
