A woman from Kippens remains in hospital after police responded to a complaint of assault causing bodily harm early Monday morning.

The 38-year-old woman was admitted to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville shortly after midnight. She had been brought there with injuries sustained in an altercation that had allegedly happened in Stephenville Crossing.

As a result of the subsequent investigation, the Bay St. George detachment of the RCMP charged a 41-year-old man from Kippens with assault causing bodily harm. He was kept in police custody and is expected to make an appearance in provincial court in Stephenville Tuesday.

The woman in the hospital has injuries that are not life-threatening.
