Sunny skies and seasonal temperatures greeted the passengers and crew of Phoenix Reisen’s Amadea, the first of four cruise ships scheduled to make Corner Brook a port of call this month.

The vessel, with its capacity for 600 passengers and 250 crew, sailed into the Humber Arm Wednesday morning and left again 6 p.m. to continue a 29-day transatlantic journey that began in Iceland three weeks ago and concludes in Germany.

The Amadea’s visit was the fourth time a cruise ship has come to Corner Brook this season, which has a total of nine visits on tap.

The next ship on the schedule will be the largest one on this season’s list.

The Celebrity Summit, which can carry more than 2,100 passengers and 936 crew members, will spend Sept. 17 in Corner Brook as part of its 15-day Canada-New England itinerary.

The Celebrity Summit is scheduled to make a second visit to Corner Brook Oct. 1.

The Silver Whisper will be in Corner Brook Sept. 22, one day after visiting L’Anse aux Meadows as part of its transatlantic voyage from Southhampton, United Kingdon to Montreal.

On Set. 24, the Oceania Regatta will make the first of two visits to Corner Brook this fall. It will return Oct. 2 as part of its fall foliage itinerary from New York to Montreal.
