St. George’s man facing multiple charges after running from police

A 20-year-old St. George’s man has been charged with shoplifting and other charges after fleeing from a staff member and police with stolen goods from Dominion Market in Stephenville on Sunday.

Const. Jake Foran of the Bay St. George RCMP said the incident was reported to police at 9:58 a.m. and a foot chase resulted as the man had fled just as police were arriving. Police members were able to catch with him.

He was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, two counts of failing to comply with probation orders and three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a recognize, including to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The man will be appearing in court at a later date.
