Carly Johannesen, a Grade 6 French immersion student at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Corner Brook, gave a presentation on composting — in French, of course — during the school’s market and agriculture expo Thursday. The day showcased the flowers and vegetables grow in the school’s greenhouse, in addition to students facilitating agricultural sessions and a visit from some live farm animals.

Immaculate Heart of Mary School hosted an agricultural market and expo Thursday.

Besides showing off and selling items harvested from the school’s impressive greenhouse, students facilitated a series of agricultural sessions and presented some of their science, technology, engineering and mathematics innovations.

With funding help from Memorial University, the event also included an art exhibit in the gymnasium and visits from live farm animals, including a goat and some baby chickens.
