Jordan Bennett combines art and technology
As an artist Jordan Bennett has used many mediums to complete his work and with his latest exhibition, Wije’wi (Come With Me), he’s been throwing a bit of technology into the process.
Roger Brooks led a workshop on economic development in the area this week. In addition to a talk on a city core, one of the many ideas he floated was that of an association for young professionals.

Brittany Connolly feels she will need help in forging a career after she graduates from the business program at Academy Canada.
She also knows she won’t be alone as a young person hoping to make her way in the tough western Newfoundland economy.
She recently attended an economic development forum in Corner Brook and was inspired to try to create a young professionals organization in the city.
She believes such an association could help attract and retain more young people to live in Corner Brook, help revitalize the city’s downtown core and help further develop the local tourism sector.
Similar organizations exist in larger cities elsewhere, but she hopes the big city thinking can translate just as well to a smaller centre like Corner Brook.
“We do have a population here so we should have something here too,” she said.
She’s still doing the preliminary groundwork of finding out what’s involved in going about setting up a young professional association, but does have a vision for how it can help.
She thinks it could be useful for new residents in the 20-40 age range to find out information about the area’s social offerings and where to get help in terms of doing business or starting one up in Corner Brook. She also feels it could benefit students as they look for resources to launch their careers.
She acknowledged there are several business-oriented organizations already in place in Corner Brook, but said this new entity would help link all those together for younger people.
“I want it to be something for everyone,” she said
Connolly has begun circulating a short survey to people in the Corner Brook area to try to get a better idea of what her main objectives should be in initiating the association.
