Montreal parts ways with traffic czar after just a few months
MONTREAL — The man hired just a few months ago to become the friendly face of Montreal's construction-induced traffic nightmares is gone.
Thomas Kavanagh, 54, of Deer Lake has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a reported stabbing incident in Port aux Basques about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
According to a RCMP news release, a 39-year-old Port aux Basques man suffered apparent stab wounds to his body. He was transported to hospital, treated for injuries and later released.
RCMP officers, along with paramedics, responded to the incident that occurred on Main Street in the town.
Kavanagh appeared in provincial court in Stephenville Thursday afternoon and was remanded in custody until his next court date of July 17.
The investigation is ongoing.
