Those were the words Justin Chynn used to describe his daughter, Autumn, in December when he talked about his family’s life with Krabbe A disease.

Autumn Chynn died of the degenerative disorder on Monday night, just two weeks shy of turning one year old.

Autumn and her identical twin sister, Freya, born on Valentine’s Day in 2016, were diagnosed with Krabbe A disease last fall. Along with the diagnosis came a sad prognosis, as children with the disease have about a two-year lifespan.

With a determination to push that as far as they could, Chynn and his girlfriend, Ashley Young, set out to learn as much as they could about the disease and give their daughters the best life they could as they celebrated all the big moments along the way.

“We’re just trying to make sure to make them as special as possible,” Chynn said.

The family has also been very open with their situation, sharing their journey with people near and far.

In a posting on Tuesday on their Facebook page, “Autumn & Freya’s Journey,” Chynn and Young shared pictures of Autumn and told followers she had died in her sleep.

“Our little princess, such a strong little babe, now free from this disgusting disease.”

They said her life is not one to be mourned, but one to be celebrated.

“As hard as it is caring for a child with Krabbe, we consider ourselves lucky to have been her parents and experience her unconditional love.”
