Police are awaiting the result of a blood analysis to determine if there will be impaired charges laid against a 38-year-old Port au Port Peninsula man involved in an all-terrain vehicle collision early today.

Cpl. John Butler of the Bay St. George RCMP said police received a report of an all-terrain vehicle accident at 1:39 a.m. involving the driver of a quad going off the main road in Piccadilly into a ditch.

He said when police arrived on the scene Emergency Medical Services were already on the scene attending to the man who was driving the all-terrain vehicle.

Due to the man was being transported to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville for treatment of injuries not believed to be life threatening, a breath test wasn’t able to be conducted, so a blood demand was made.

Police are continuing their investigation into the accident.
