Calgary man released after appearing in court on impaired charges

A 60-year-old Calgary, AB man facing impaired driving offences was released from custody in Stephenville court this afternoon.

In the early morning hours of today members of the Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle accident in Kippens and resulting from an investigation the man was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle by exceeding 80 mg and operating a vehicle while impaired.

He was released on conditions that he keeps the peace and be of good behaviour, appear in court on Jan. 15, not consume alcohol, reside in his residence in Calgary but notify police of any change of address.

Bay St. George RCMP members remind the public of the dangers of impaired operation of a vehicle and urges motorists to call 911 should they suspect someone is driving while impaired. Providing a description of the vehicle and driver, a licence plate number and direction of travel can assist police in locating the vehicle and getting the impaired driver off the road.
