The protective service statistics, as compiled by Todd Flynn, director of protective services for the City of Corner Brook, for May 2018 were reported at Monday night’s city council meeting by Coun. Tony Buckle as follows:
Municipal Enforcement (146 calls for services, including:)
By-law Enforcement
— 17 untidy property investigations
— 5 uncovered garbage
Taxi Regulation
— 15 taxi driver permits issued
— 10 taxi vehicle permits issued
— 1 taxi driver conduct complaint and investigation
Animal Control
— 50 calls in total, including:
— 10 roaming animals being impounded
— 5 animal violation notices issued
— 9 injured/dead animals
Parking Enforcement
— 60 parking-related violations issued, including:
— 32 expired meters
— 7 parked on sidewalk
— 1 impaired mobility (handicapped parking spaces)
— various other parking violations (private land, loading zone, wrong direction, etc…)
Corner Brook Fire Department (32 calls for services, including:)
— 3 motor vehicle accidents – multiple injuries
— 5 motor vehicle accidents – no injuries
(2 included out of jurisdiction calls that are being billed to owners accordingly)

— 3 alarm bells (commercial)/alarm ringing
— 1 alarm bels (residential)/alarm ringing
