That commitment went a little off track in November 2016 when two staff members left at the same time and the office had to be closed.
Since then, people from the region have been provided with support from the St. John’s office, but the society recognized it needed a presence here, said Pelley, the division’s vice-president of philanthropy.
That presence was revived on Monday when the office, located in the CIBC Building, reopened.
The office will be staffed Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by a community resource co-ordinator and health promotions worker.
A reopening celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
