The two entities are partnering to produce WestFest 2017 on the waterfront the weekend of July 29-30.
The city says it hopes WestFest will become an annual event.
The inaugural version will feature free family-themed events during the day and more adult-oriented entertainment in the evenings, including a beer tent and more live music performances, for which there will be admission charged.
Revenue from the evening concert is expected to go towards making WestFest an annual event. Tickets may be purchased online or in person at Corner Brook’s civic centre.
This year’s Corner Brook Day celebrations are also being held July 30.
The tall ship event is in coordination with Rendez-Vous 2017 to commemorate the rich history of sailing in Canada and to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. During the three-day visit from July 29-31, the visiting ships will be open to public visitation free of charge between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The WestFest events will take place within the gated and fenced-in area to the east of the Oceanex building on the waterfront. This will also be the public access point for visiting the tall ships.
A fireworks show is being planned to cap off the weekend festival at dusk Sunday.
