Mayor Tom O’Brien said at the regular general meeting of the Stephenville town council on Thursday that something went wrong with the pavement mix last year that extended from Main Street’s intersection with West Street to its intersection with Boland Drive.
He said after personnel from the town pointed this out to the contractor, officials from the company had a look and agreed to redo the job this year at no cost to the town.
This includes milling up the pavement, just as they did last year and applying all new blacktop.
“With the cost of pavement these days you certainly want to get something lasting,” O’Brien said.
He said there will be some delays in traffic while the work is being carried out in the next few days but that it has to be done.
Meanwhile, he said it was good to see this same company has completed paving on the Grove Street and St. Clare Avenue Reconstruction projects, which included paving across Main Street and on Princess Avenue.
