Deer Lake is getting a new hotel.
According to a news release on the Town of Deer Lake’s website Friday, Moreton Properties Ltd. has announced it will build an 84-room hotel and conference centre in Deer Lake that is expected to open in 2019.
The Ontario-based company said the five-storey building will carry the Hampton Inn by Hilton brand and will include a 5,000-square foot conference centre.
The 5.5-acre property is located on the Trans Canada Highway, next to Woodward Motors.
The town said there are two parcels of land on the property, which have been set aside for future development opportunities that are being evaluated at this time.
Moreton Properties Ltd., which also operates Corner Brook’s Quality Inn, conducted a feasibility study before deciding to proceed with the development.
Design work has been ongoing for several months and should conclude in the coming weeks.
Construction will begin this spring of 2018.
