Craig Arthur Kelloway, 33, was initially arrested and charged with breaking into Empire Atlantic merchandise store, Yates and Woods surveyors office and The Humber Hound pet grooming shop Jan. 21.
Earlier this month, he was also charged with breaking into 4 O’Clock Vapour shop on West Street on Dec. 21, Curtis Optical on Boxing Day and three businesses on O’Connell Drive — Convoy Services, Speedy Glass and Liquid Air — on Jan. 13.
Kelloway also faces eight charges of breaching probation, one for each break and entry offence filed against him.
He appeared at provincial court in Corner Brook Wednesday afternoon, but told Judge Wayne Gorman he had fired his Legal Aid Commission lawyer.
The judge advised Kelloway that he has been in custody for six months and not much progress has been made with his case. The matter will be called again Aug. 3 to see if Kelloway has a new plan for legal representation.
