For the 11th time in 12 years, the Steers Insurance Curling Rangers are champions of the Corner Brook Molson Senior Men’s Soccer League.

Brad Burton managed to break through the tight defence of the Investors Group Under 18s late in the second five-minute overtime period and get a bullet of a shot past goalkeeper Tyler Kelloway with what proved the eventual winner.

The Rangers had the pressure on for most of the close match, but just had to maintain their composure for just over a minute more after Burton’s marker.

The Under-18s had beaten the Rangers in three of their five regular season tilts.

This was the second overtime title-clinching game for the Rangers in as many years. Last year, it took penalty kicks for them to upend the West Side Monarchs.
