At a public meeting of the town council Tuesday evening, it was decided that Straightline Construction and two of its partners will do the work to build up the residential capacity in the area located between Dr. D.D. McDonald Drive and Schwartz Park.
Straightline Construction is based out of Deer Lake.
It is expected the developer will get to work clearing brush and building an access road as early as within the next week. The project is expected feature a mix of condominiums and homes.
“This gives the project the green light to go ahead,” said Coun. Elmo Bingle. “I expect they will start work sooner, rather than later.”
A little more than a month ago the town announced it had severed ties with developer Humber Valley Real Estate Group Ltd. to do the project.
