Young went missing on Aug. 5 and Legge, aided by family and some friends, has made it his personal mission to try and find him, but so far to no avail.

He took time off from work to do the searching and on Tuesday was taking a rest because of an aching back, likely from being out searching for eight to 10 hours a day. He plans to scale that back to two to three hours daily for another week or two.

“It gets discouraging after all the work we have done and not to come up with even a lead, not even a piece of clothing,” Legge said.

He said police were back with a service dog last week and unfortunately that didn’t lead to anything.

With the time elapsed since Young went missing and the fact no money has been taken out of his account since, Legge said the family is giving up a bit of hope and thinking they’re probably now just looking for a body.

“Without any leads, the resources are just not there by search and rescue personnel to search rivers, ponds or the other bodies of water,” he said.

But in saying that, he also said the family needs closure and needs an answer and that’s why he has been keeping at it.

The Bay St. George RCMP continues to invite the general public to send in any tips that may help them find him.

Young is described as 5' 7" tall, 150 pounds (68 kilograms) with dark hair (some grey) and brown eyes. He has a moustache and tattoos and was last seen wearing a red long-sleeve shirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Larry Young is asked to contact the Bay St. George RCMP at (709) 643-2118.

To remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure tip online at www.nlcrimestoppers.com or text TIP190 plus your message to “CRIMES” (274637).
