Frost damage alert issued for much of Newfoundland

Environment Canada has issued a frost warning for most of the province today (Thursday).

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for patchy frost overnight tonight, especially in sheltered low-lying inland areas.Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas.
Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

The warning is in effect for the Avalon Peninsula, Bay St. George, Burgeo-Ramea, the Burin Peninsula, Channel-Port aux Basque, Connaogre, Corner Brook, Deer Lake-Humber Valley, Gros Morne, Parson's Pond-Hawke's Bay and St. John's and vicinity.
