A 56-year-old Corner Brook man has been charged with impaired driving after allegedly driving in the oncoming traffic lane of West Street Thursday night.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said it responded to a complaint of erratic driving on West Street at around 9 p.m.
According to police, a vehicle had driven through construction pylons,
drove into the oncoming traffic lane and then onto a sidewalk before stopping in a commercial parking lot.
Upon investigation, the man was subsequently arrested and charged with impaired driving and refusing the breathalyzer. He was issued a 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded by police for 30 days.
He will appear in provincial court in August.
