Man, woman arrested for string of alleged shoplifting incidents in Corner Brook

A man and a woman were taken into custody following their arrests for allegedly stealing from a Corner Brook business Thursday afternoon.

The two were actually suspects in a pair of ongoing police investigations involving thefts from other businesses in the city and have also been charged in relation to those.

The 23-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were arrested near the business on Broadway that had reported a theft in progress at around 2:20 p.m. Thursday.

They were both charged with theft under $5,000 and the man was also charged with breaching probation.

The other two theft investigations had been initiated Dec. 19 and involved alleged thefts from businesses on O’Connell Drive. In relation to those investigations, both were charged with two additional counts each of theft under $5,000 and the man was charged with two more probation breaches.

The two were detained by police and are expected to make appearances in provincial court in Corner Brook today.
