Kyle Hunt will go to trial in the new year on 15 charges, including three counts of sexual assault.
The 22-year-old Meadows man appeared via videoconference in provincial court in Corner Brook on Tuesday afternoon.
During the appearance his lawyer, Peter Chaffey, indicated that Hunt wished to be tried on all the charges in the provincial court and that he was pleading not guilty to all 15 counts.
The three sexual assault charges involve one victim and are alleged to have occurred between Feb. 22 and June 29.
The other charges against him include seven counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance, one count of attempting to obstruct justice, three breaches of a recognizance and one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
Information sworn before the court alleges that Hunt made contact with his victim and several other people when bound by a recognizance not to do so and that he breached a condition prohibiting him from using the Internet to access any social media site such as Facebook, Snap Chat, Messenger, Instagram and Twitter, or from entering any sites where he could have live or instance communications with others.
Hunt’s trial was set for Jan. 18 and 19.
Meanwhile, he’s set to be sentenced on a charge of extortion on Dec. 21.
Hunt pled guilty to that charge on Nov. 17.
That incident occurred between Dec. 29, 2016 and Jan. 6 and involved Hunt threatening to release previously acquired nude photos of another young woman in an attempt to get her to do something he wanted.
