A statement issued by the premier's office this morning says Premier Dwight Ball met with the complainant last night. Ball then asked Joyce to step down from his ministerial duties while the investigation into the complaint is underway.
In the statement, the premier says Joyce agreed to be identified as the subject of the complaint and is supportive of the review.
The follow-up will be conducted by an independent, outside firm, but the firm has not yet been named.
The statement says Justice Minister Andrew Parsons will cover Joyce's ministerial duties while the work is ongoing.
