Missing MUN student confirmed as TCH accident victim

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Police are investigating after a woman reported missing Tuesday was found dead Thursday afternoon.

This photo of Allison Smith was taken the night she was last seen.

Allison Smith, 18, was reported missing Tuesday. She was last seen leaving the area of Memorial University around 1 a.m. on Tuesday night.

Thursday, an RNC patrol officer working out of Mount Pearl found Smith’s car, which had also been reported missing, along with her body in a wooded area off of the TCH east of the weigh scales near the Foxtrap Access road

The discovery came following earlier checks in the area by both the RNC and RCMP.

The RNC Major Crime Unit and Traffic Services is working closely with the RCMP to determine the cause of the collision

The RNC issues a statement expresses its sincerest sympathies to Smith’s friends and family.
