As the strike at the Iron ore company of Canada enters its ninth week, there has been a breakthrough with negotiations between the union and IOC .

A meeting at noon today in Labrador City will reveal details of a new offer from the company, Steelworkers president Ron Thomas said Friday afternoon. He said the offer received earlier this week prompted talks between the company and the union.

Thomas said the negotiating committee has reached a tentative agreement with the company.

Thomas said all three unions, Local 5795 the largest union at IOC in Labrador City , Local 6731 the Warehouse Union at IOC In Labrador City , and Local 9344 representing IOC workers in Sept-Iles, have recommended the offer.

A tentative vote on the agreement is scheduled for Monday. More details will be available when they are announced later today.
