Arts and Culture centres in Newfoundland and Labrador will receive more than $3 million in funding for upgrades.

Some $1.9 million in funding is from Canada Cultural Spaces Fund and he provincial government is contributing another $1.4 million for improvements to the centres in St. John’s, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Corner Brook, Stephenville and Labrador City.

In St. John’s, the money will be used to replace 50-year-old seats in the main theatre, audio-visual upgrades, an accessible entrance for the Barbara Barrett Theatre and more.

The five other centres will receive upgrades to audio and lighting systems. Artists and technicians will be able to increase their creative capacity as the centres achieve current production standards.
