The fate of five Newfoundland schools will be decided by the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District (NLESD) on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Decisions on H.L. Strong Academy in Little Bay Islands, James Cook Memorial School in Cook’s Harbour, LeGallais Memorial in Isle aux Morts (under the St. James Regional High School System in Channel-Port aux Basques), Leading Tickles Primary in Leading Tickles (under Point Leamington Academy School System) and Swift Current Academy in Swift Current could result in the closure of these schools.

The board is also reviewing the Appalachia High School System in St. Georges and is considering amalgamation of Our Lady of Mercy Elementary and Appalachia High School.

Decisions will be made at a public meeting at East Point Elementary in St. John’s.

The 3 p.m. meeting will be broadcast live at www.nlesd.ca .
