CORNER BROOK

The Norwegian Gem was the last cruise ship of the 2017 season to pay a visit to Corner Brook on Saturday.

The Norwegian Cruise Line's ship arrived at 8 a.m. with 2,394 passengers and 1,101 crewmembers on board.

Despite the chilly day those onboard still took in the sites and sounds of the city.

Peggy Fulton and Marilyn Farand of Alberta said they took the cruise, which originated in New York, to see the fall colours. As they looked out over the city and the Bay of Islands from the Captain James Cook Historic Site they were not disappointed.

The ship has already made stops in Halifax and Quebec and will be stopping in Sydney, N.S. before heading back to New York.
