The order came when he appeared in Stephenville Provincial Court on Monday.

Cooper was taken into custody after a report of an assault at a home on Gordon Crescent in Stephenville at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Members of Bay St. George RCMP attended.

The victim reported minor injuries but police wouldn’t say what type of weapon was involved. Police said the two men were known to each other.

Cooper has a number of conditions of an undertaking including to remain in the province, a curfew of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., no contact with the victims, abstain from alcohol, a prohibition from possessing firearms, he must present himself at the door when called upon by a peace officer and provide a sample of breath or urine when called upon.

Police said they are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Cooper’s next court appearance is set for March 5.
