A complaint from a Corner Brook business resulted in an 18-year-old male being charged with fraud and uttering a forged document on Monday.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received the complaint at 11 a.m. The business reported that the teen had attended with a personal cheque and attempted to cash it. The business did not accept the cheque.

At 3 p.m. the teen returned to the business and attempted to cash the cheque with a different employee.

The RNC determined the cheque had been altered and had been written out to a different person.

It was also revealed that he had failed to appear in court on unrelated charges in November and a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

He was charged with fraud, uttering a forged document and failing to appear in court. He will appear in provincial court at a later date.
