Two people were taken by ambulance to hospital with injuries that were not life threatening following an accident involving four vehicles at Gull Pond near Stephenville on Wednesday morning.

Const. Ghyslaine Morin of the Bay St. George RCMP said she wasn’t sure if others from the accident attended the hospital on their own.

She said a complete whiteout was reported at the time of the accident at a location on Route 460 that is prone to such conditions.

In addition to the RCMP, the Stephenville Fire Department had two fire trucks and seven personnel on hand, while Russell’s Ambulance Service was on hand with two vehicles.

The road was closed for several hours until responders completed their work and the vehicles were removed.

Meanwhile, police had been advising people to stay off the roads in the area because of the whiteout conditions that were taking place.
