Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, advising windy weather is expected for western Newfoundland Wednesday.
The statement extends all along the Northern Peninsula and into central Newfoundland and along the south coast as far east as the Burin Peninsula.
It says strong easterly winds will develop Tuesday night along the south coast before spreading northward throughout the day Wednesday.
Areas of the west coast prone to downslope winds may require wind warnings to be issued.
Snow will accompany these winds, beginning Wednesday morning, and combine to produce reduced visibilities in blowing snow for many areas.
Conditions are expected to improve later Wednesday as the snow changes to rain.
