Youth charged with robberies back in court Jan. 25

A 16-year-old Stephenville boy charged in relation to two armed robberies in Stephenville in early December will be back in court on Jan. 25.

The youth appeared in provincial court in Stephenville on Tuesday via videoconference from Whitbourne and is expected to make the next court appearance in the same manner from the same location and has been remanded in custody.

The purpose of the upcoming appearance is to enter a plea.

The youth was arrested and charged by the Bay St. George RCMP for two armed robberies that occurred on Dec. 8 and 9 in Stephenville after he allegedly entered Coast Clothing and Danny’s Bakery and demanded cash. There were no injuries in the robberies.

The youth is facing two counts of armed robbery and two counts of wearing a disguise while committing an offence.

He is alleged to have been wearing a dark hoodie and had a scarf covering his face at the time of the robberies.
