MP Gudie Hutchings announces areas in Long Range Mountains riding where Internet services to be enhanced

The list of areas in western Newfoundland that will benefit from enhanced high-speed Internet coverage has been released.

According to a press release from Gudie Hutchings, the Liberal Commons member for Long Range Mountains, there are 24 areas within her federal riding that will be impacted by investments totaling a little more than $13 million.

The funding, totalling $500 million across Canada and $40 million in Newfoundland and Labrador, is being allocated through Connect to Innovate, a federal program designed to provide underserved communities with Internet access at speeds of five megabytes per second or more.

Of the $13-million to be spent in the Long Range Mountains, $6.5 million will come from the federal government, $1.6 million from the provincial government and $5.3 million will come from other contributors.

- Corner Brook and surrounding area

- Eddies Cove West

- Shoal Cove

- Castors River

- Cormack East

- Jack Ladder

- Gallants

- Conche

- Cook’s Harbour

- Norris Point

- Rocky Harbour

- The Beaches

- Jackson’s Arm

- Sops Arm

- Pollards Point

- Hampden

- Grey River

- Ramea

- Reidville

- Port aux Basques
