The City of Corner Brook and the Corner Brook Port Corporation are hoping for a festival-like atmosphere when a fleet of tall ships visits the city in late July.

On Sunday, July 16 at approximately 11 p.m., Queens District RCMP received a complaint that an inbound commercial aircraft was affected by a green laser as it flew over the Brackley Beach area.
The laser light shone into the cockpit for approximately 5-10 seconds, says a note issued today by the RCMP. The pilot was able to land the plane without incident.
“RCMP remind the general public that shining any laser at an aircraft is a serious Federal offence where offenders could be charged under the Aeronautics Act and face up to $100,000 in fines and/or five years in prison,” says the police force.
